This local church chorus returns to entertain and provide spiritual healing through music. Contrary to popular belief, the American Thanksgiving did not originate with the Pilgrims in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Colonial Thanksgiving were very different than what we celebrate in the 21st century, but some things never change; it was all about family, food and fun back then, as well as today.
Please join us for a presentation on World War II Navy battles by Capt. Clifford Francis, USN (Ret) on November 21, 2013 at 2:30pmat The Chesapeake Retirement Community.
His presentation will cover historical events of the Navy and coverage of operations and support during World War I, Naval battles of World War II beginning with the disastrous day at Pearl Harbor and ending with the signing of the Japanese surrender papers by General MacArthur and the Japanese delegation. Naval operations during both the Korean and Vietnamese conflicts will be addressed. Also, highlighted, will be today’s Naval strategies including Strike Force deployment scenes; Aircraft carrier battle groups coming into port with sailors manning the flight deck. The finale of “God Bless America” by Kate Smith will end the program.
