April 29: COVID-19 Update

The Chesapeake COVID-19 Update 4/29/21

The Chesapeake’s leadership team learned on April 28 that a clinical team member who works in the memory support neighborhood has been exposed to COVID-19. Out of an abundance of caution, this team member is quarantining at home for the next 10 days.

As a result of this exposure, indoor visitation to the memory support neighborhood will be suspended for 10 days as well. Communal dining and activities will continue during this time. Outdoor visitation will be permitted. If both the visitors and the residents are fully vaccinated, masks will not be required for these outdoor visits.

If residents in the memory support neighborhood have offsite appointments, transportation will still be provided. All team members will continue to follow all Virginia Department of Health recommended safety procedures including wearing masks.

Visitation will continue for assisted living and independent living levels of care. The healthcare will resume visitation on Saturday, May 1, pending all negative test results on Friday, April 30. The Chesapeake’s team urges all residents and team members to remain vigilant regarding mask-wearing, social distancing, and proper hand hygiene.
