LifeSpire of Virginia, The Chesapeake’s parent company, continues to make great strides in providing quality housing, dining and care for residents in each of its four communities: The Chesapeake in Newport News, The Culpeper in Culpeper, The Glebe in Daleville and Lakewood in Richmond. As renovations of the dining room continue at The Chesapeake, expansion projects are also underway at The Culpeper and Lakewood, with plans to add a memory care center at The Glebe in the near future.
Construction at The Culpeper is expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2019. The 125,000-square-foot expansion of The Culpeper will provide 133 new accommodations — 54 assisted living, 32 memory care, and 47 skilled nursing units, with 16 of those reserved for short-term rehabilitation needs. Other enhancements to the community include an outdoor courtyard, country kitchens, cook-to-order dining options, an on-site clinic, chapel, on-site physical therapy, wellness gym, health and beauty spa, and other homelike living spaces for residents’ enjoyment.
The company also broke ground in October on the expansion of its Lakewood community in Richmond, Virginia. This $64 million expansion includes a new four-story Lakeview Clubhouse and two additional buildings of Woodside Hybrid Homes. The Lakeview Clubhouse will include a new community entrance, and the upper floors will contain 44 apartment homes with underground parking, views of a new lake with walking paths, gardens, fire pits and a waterfall feature, and direct access to the Clubhouse’s extensive amenities located on the first floor. Twenty Woodside Hybrid Homes will be split between two new buildings. These apartments will be unique to Richmond, and have spacious floor plans, individual garages, and private outdoor spaces such as patios or covered decks. Each building will also have a large Woodside Hybrid Commons area, which will be a central space for neighbors to socialize and relax.
LifeSpire of Virginia’s current and projected financial strength allows the company to pursue these long overdue enhancements and expansions, explained Jonathan Cook, LifeSpire of Virginia president and CEO.
