April 16: COVID-19 Update
The Chesapeake COVID-19 Update 4/16/21
The Chesapeake’s leadership team learned this morning that an employee from a private agency who was providing one-on-one care to one of our residents in the healthcare neighborhood tested positive for COVID-19. The resident is at home in isolation.
Contact tracing is underway and any other residents or team members who are determined to have been in close contact with the positive resident will be notified directly. The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) has been notified and The Chesapeake’s team continues to follow all recommendations and guidelines.
Due to this positive case, visitation to the healthcare area will be suspended. Compassionate care visits will be allowed by appointment. Residents may welcome visitors via virtual or window visits with appropriate precautions in place. Additionally, communal dining and activities are suspended during this time as well.
All healthcare residents and team members will be retested weekly for the next 14 days. The Chesapeake’s team will re-evaluate allowing indoor visitation upon completion of the first round of testing. Per VDH, upon completion of two rounds of testing with no additional positive cases visitation may resume.
Residents, team members and visitors are urged to continue to be vigilant to stop the spread of the virus. Please wear a mask, practice good hand hygiene and keep a social distance.
