The Chesapeake’s management team has become aware of a resident in Health Care and an administrative team member who have tested positive for COVID-19. The resident is asymptomatic and has been moved to the Covid Care unit. The team member is currently quarantining at home. All other residents have been tested and are negative. Contact tracing is underway.

As a proactive measure, in response to these recent cases and to limit the viral spread, all residents in health care have been placed on isolation and are under close observation. Communal dining and communal activities have been suspended for health care. All team members working in Health Care upgraded their PPE use to N95 masks and continue to use proper hand washing and hand sanitization techniques.

Visitation in the Health Care center will be suspended, effective August 18th. Compassionate care visits will continue as deemed appropriate by leadership team members. Visitation will continue for memory care and assisted living.

Additionally, COVID testing for all Health Care team members and residents was completed on August 17th. We are still in the process of receiving the results.

Licensing agencies and the V.D.H. have been notified with no new recommendations at this time. We will continue with testing per Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services guidelines. The next planned Health Care team member and resident testing will be held on or around August 24, 2021, we will keep you updated on any further positive results and/or protocol changes.

The Chesapeake’s team urges all residents and team members as well as guests to remain vigilant regarding mask-wearing, social distancing, and proper hand hygiene. Please check the COVID-19 Communications Hub for up-to-date communications. Questions or concerns may be submitted to Barbara Jackson-Ingram at [email protected].

Sincerely,
David A. Loop
