December 11: COVID-19 Update

The Chesapeake COVID-19 Update 12/11/20

On December 11, the Chesapeake’s management team discovered that a wellness team member who works predominately in independent living tested positive for COVID-19. Contact tracing revealed that one of the team members likely was exposed to COVID-19 outside of the community. This team member was last at the community on December 5 and is self-quarantining at home until the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) return to work standards are met.

Additionally, the management also learned that two clinical team members who work predominately in assisted living tested positive for COVID-19 today. Contact tracing is currently underway to identify those who may have had close contact with a positive team member. Anyone identified in this process will be notified directly.

VDH has been notified of these positive tests and The Chesapeake team continues to follow all recommended guidelines for infection prevention and spread. All team members in the assisted living neighborhood were tested for COVID-19 as a result of these positive cases and all the results were negative.

Visitation and activities for the assisted living and memory support neighborhoods are suspended until December 26 provided there are no additional positive cases. All independent living common areas, dining, activities, community center, fitness center and pool are closed at this time as well.

The Chesapeake’s leadership team urges residents to continue wearing masks, keeping a social distance of at least six feet and practicing hand hygiene.
