December 23: COVID-19 Update

The Chesapeake COVID-19 Update 12/23/20

While performing state-mandated baseline testing of residents and team members due to recent positive cases, four assisted living residents tested positive for COVID-19.

Family members of these residents have been contacted. Contact tracing has been completed. Anyone who was identified as having close contact with any of the positive residents or team members has been notified directly.

The Virginia Department of Health has been notified of these positive tests and The Chesapeake team continues to follow all recommended guidelines for infection prevention and spread. All team members in the assisted living neighborhood were tested for COVID-19 and results are pending.

Visitation, communal dining and communal activities for all licensed areas (healthcare, assisted living and memory support) are still suspended until further notice.

The Chesapeake’s leadership team urges residents to continue wearing masks, keeping a social distance of at least six feet and practicing hand hygiene.

To help prevent the further spread of the virus, The Chesapeake strongly urges residents and family members to continue to remain in their homes this holiday season, if at all possible.  Avoiding external gatherings further reduces the risk of contracting the disease.  Other options such as virtual visits (facetime, zoom) are still a recommended alternative at this time to keep everyone safe and healthy”.
