December 27: COVID-19 Update

Dear Residents and Families,

The Chesapeake’s management team was happy to have families and friends in to visit over the holiday weekend. We appreciate your ongoing support as we navigate the recent spike in COVID-19 cases.

On December 26 the management team learned that an independent living resident tested positive for COVID-19. This resident was asymptomatic and was identified as part of testing due to a possible exposure. On December 27, we learned that an additional IL resident had tested positive. Both individuals are currently under quarantine in their homes.

Contact tracing was conducted immediately. Individuals who were in close contact with the first positive resident were contacted directly, resulting in 6 more residents being placed on quarantine as a precaution. The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) has been notified of the positive test results and The Chesapeake team continues to follow recommended guidelines for infection prevention and spread related to COVID-19.

All team members and residents involved have and will continue to be tested in accordance with the area’s positivity rate, per the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Any positive cases will be reported as results are returned.

Residents are urged to continue social distancing, wearing masks, and practicing proper hand hygiene. The Chesapeake’s leadership team appreciates the extended Chesapeake family’s patience, flexibility and understanding during this time. Please reach out with questions or concerns.

Kindest Regards,

David A. Loop
