December 7: COVID-19 Update

The Chesapeake COVID-19 Update 12/7/20

On December 6, the Chesapeake’s management team discovered that a memory support team member tested positive for COVID-19. This team member is asymptomatic and is self-quarantining at home until Virginia Department of Heath (VDH) return to work standards are met.

Contact tracing revealed that the team member liked was exposed to COVID-19 outside of the community. VDH has been notified of the positive test and The Chesapeake team continues to follow all recommended guidelines for infection prevention and spread.

Visitation to the healthcare, assisted living and memory support is suspended until December 18, provided there are no new positive cases for residents.

On a separate note, the management team learned that five independent living residents tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend. Contact tracing revealed that it is likely these residents were exposed to the virus outside of the community. All five of these residents are self-quarantining at home. Any additional residents or team members who may have been in close contact with these residents have been contacted directly.

As a result of these recent cases and out of an abundance of caution, all independent living common areas, dining, activities, community center, fitness center and pool are closed at this time. The Chesapeake’s leadership team urges residents to continue wearing masks, keeping a social distance of at least six feet and practicing hand hygiene.
