January 11: COVID-19 Update
The Chesapeake COVID-19 Update 1/11/21
The Chesapeake’s management team learned on January 10 that a healthcare resident and an independent living resident tested positive for COVID-19. These positive cases were identified as part of state-mandated baseline testing. All other health care residents tested negative.
On a separate note, three positive cases were identified on January 5: one healthcare team member, one independent living resident and one assisted living resident. The team member has been removed from the schedule and is quarantining at home. The positive residents are also quarantining.
Contact tracing is underway. Anyone who was in close contact with the positive residents were contacted directly. The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) has been notified of the positive test results and The Chesapeake’s team continues to follow all recommended guidelines for infection prevention and spread.
At this time, all visitation, communal dining and activities, as well as beauty salon services have been suspended until further notice.
All healthcare team members and residents continue to be tested in accordance with the area’s positivity rate, per the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Testing will be administered again on Tuesday, January 12. Any positive cases will be reported as results are returned.
Residents are urged to continue social distancing, wearing masks and washing hands regularly. The Chesapeake’s leadership team appreciates the extended Chesapeake family’s patience, flexibility and understanding during this time. Please reach out with questions or concerns.
