January 18: COVID-19 Update
The Chesapeake COVID-19 Update 1/18/21
On January 18, The Chesapeake’s management team learned five team members tested positive for COVID-19 during state-mandated baseline testing conducted late last week.
Two of the positive team members work in healthcare, one works on the environmental services team, the fourth is a maintenance technician and the fifth works in resident services. All these team members are quarantining at home pending the completion of the Virginia Department of Health’s (VDH) return-to-work criteria.
VDH has been notified of these positive tests. Contact tracing is underway. Any residents or team members who are identified as having close contact with any of the positive team members will be contacted directly. No other residents or team members tested positive or are exhibiting and signs or symptoms of the virus.
As a reminder, The Chesapeake will hold its second COVID-19 vaccine clinic tomorrow, January 19. During this clinic, those team members and residents who received the first dose on December 29 will receive the second dose. Those who were unable to attend the first clinic may receive the first dose tomorrow and the second during a third clinic that will be held on February 9.
Despite receiving the vaccine, all residents and team members are urged to please continue wearing masks covering the nose and mask, social distancing and practicing proper hand hygiene.
