January 6: COVID-19 Update

The Chesapeake’s leadership team has become aware of a resident in memory support who tested positive for COVID-19. The resident is mildly symptomatic and fully vaccinated. All memory support team members and residents are fully vaccinated and will be monitored for symptoms. Contact tracing is underway.

As a proactive measure, all residents in memory support are in isolation and are under close observation. All team members who work in memory support continue to wear proper protective equipment and practice proper hand hygiene.

Communal dining and communal activities have been suspended for memory support. Visitation to the memory support neighborhood has been suspended. Compassionate care visits will continue as deemed appropriate by leadership team members.

Licensing agencies and the Virginia Department of Health have been notified with no new recommendations. Testing will continue per the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services guidelines. The next round of planned memory support team member and resident testing will be held on January 11. Any further positive results and/or protocol changes will be reported.

The Chesapeake’s team urges all residents, guests and team members to remain vigilant regarding mask-wearing, social distancing and proper hand hygiene.
