November 17: COVID-19 Update

The Chesapeake COVID-19 Update 11/17/20

The Chesapeake’s management team learned November 16 that a healthcare team member tested positive for COVID-19. The team member has not worked at the Chesapeake since November 10. Contact tracing determined that it is believed the exposure occurred of the community. This team member was removed from the schedule and is self-quarantining at home.

Contact tracing also revealed that no residents or other team members were exposed as a result of this positive test. As a result, residents do not need to be tested according to the Virginia Department of Health (VDH). VDH has been notified of the positive test and The Chesapeake’s team continues to follow all recommended guidelines for infection prevention and spread.

All healthcare team members continue to be tested in accordance with the area’s positivity rate, per the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Testing was administered today, and the leadership team will report results as they are returned.

Residents are urged to continue social distancing, wearing masks and washing hands regularly. The Chesapeake’s leadership team appreciates the extended Chesapeake family’s patience, flexibility and understanding during this time. Please reach out if you have questions or concerns.
