COVID-19 Letter to Residents and Families of The Chesapeake

Dear Residents and Families,

The Chesapeake’s management team learned on October 12 that a team member who works in the health care center tested positive for COVID-19. This fully vaccinated team member was identified as part of routine testing and was immediately sent home to quarantine. Contact tracing was conducted immediately.

As a proactive measure, all residents in health care have been placed on isolation and are under close observation.  All residents will be tested, October 12, 2021. Communal dining and communal activities have been suspended in the health care center.  All team members working in the health care center continue to wear proper PPE, including N95 masks and eye shields.

Visitation in the Health Care Center will be suspended, effective October 12, 2021.  Compassionate care visits will continue as deemed appropriate by leadership team members.

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and licensing agencies have been notified of the positive test result and The Chesapeake team continues to follow all recommended guidelines for infection prevention and spread.

All team members and residents involved have and will continue to be tested in accordance with the area’s positivity rate, per the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and any positive cases will be reported as results are returned.

Residents, team members and guests are urged to remain vigilant regarding mask-wearing, social distancing and proper hand hygiene. The Chesapeake’s leadership team appreciates the extended Chesapeake family’s patience, flexibility and understanding during this time.  Please reach out with via email to [email protected] with any questions or concerns.
