October 15, 2020: COVID-19 Update

The Chesapeake COVID-19 Update 10/15/20

The Chesapeake’s management team has learned that a resident in the assisted living area tested positive for COVID-19 after a hospitial stay for an unrelated issue. This resident will remain in the hospital until they receive a negative test.

This positive test is unrelated to the ongoing routine testing based on the area’s positivity rate. The resident was tested at the community on September 27 and was negative at that point. The Chesapeake’s team is performing contact tracing to identify who may have had close contact with this resident.

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) has been notified and The Chesapeake’s team continues to follow all recommended guidelines for infection prevention and spread. Upon idenficiation of this case of COVID-19,  all team members will be tested.

The Chesapeake’s team continues to work meticulously to prevent the spread of COVID-19 within the community. The safety, security and health of all residents is the foremost priority.

The team urges all residents and team members to wear masks, social distance and use proper hand hygiene. Everyone will continue to be screened before entry into the community. All team members are required to wear facial coverings.

The Chesapeake’s leadership team appreciates our community members and their families for patience and understanding during this time. Please reach out to the team if you have questions or concerns. Stay tuned to the COVID-19 Communications Hub for the latest updates.
