October 20: COVID-19 Update

The Chesapeake COVID-19 Update 10/20/21

During routine testing for covid, the Chesapeake’s management team became aware of a maintenance team member who works in Health Care that tested positive for COVID-19. The team member last worked on Friday October 15, 2021 and tested negative at that time. During routine testing on Tuesday, the team member tested positive and was sent home immediately to quarantine. All other team members and residents have been tested and the results were negative. Contact tracing is underway.

As a proactive measure communal dining and communal activities have been suspended for Health Care. Visitation in the Health Care Center will continue at this time. All team members working in Health Care continue to use proper PPE to include N95 masks and proper hand hygiene.

Licensing agencies and the V.D.H. have been notified with no new recommendations at this time.  We will continue with testing per Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services guidelines.  The next planned Health Care team member and resident testing will be held on October 22, 2021, we will keep you updated on any further positive results and/or protocol changes.

The Chesapeake’s team urges all residents and team members as well as guests to remain vigilant regarding mask-wearing, social distancing, and proper hand hygiene. Please check the COVID-19 Communications Hub  for up-to-date communications. Questions or concerns may be submitted via email to Barbara Jackson-Ingram at [email protected].
