The Chesapeake Confirms Positive Case of COVID-19 in Team Member

The Chesapeake COVID-19 Update 7/10/20

The management team at The Chesapeake is working together to keep residents, families and team members safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Transparency related to COVID-19 testing results is a chief concern.

A team member working within the licensed area of The Chesapeake tested positive for COVID-19 on July 17. The team member is recovering at home. The team member last worked a partial shift on July 10. Contact tracing is underway to determine if other team members or residents might have been exposed. At this time, no other team members or residents have been symptomatic. The Chesapeake management team reported the positive test result to the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) per the guidelines set forth by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The Chesapeake management team is closely monitoring all residents in the licensed areas to ensure that everyone is in good health. Everyone who enters the community is being screened daily, including all team members and vendors. Each team member has been educated regarding the process of self-reporting which includes travel history and symptoms of respiratory illness.

This positive case is unrelated to baseline testing scheduled for Thursday, July 23. Baseline testing will continue as planned for all residents and team members in licensed areas between 9–10:30 a.m. In light of this positive case, the first known case at The Chesapeake, it is fortunate that the baseline testing of all residents and team members working in licensed areas is planned for this week.
