September 10: COVID-19 Update

The Chesapeake COVID-19 Update 9/10/21

During routine testing for covid, the Chesapeake’s management team became aware of a team member in Health Care who has tested positive for COVID-19.  The team member is asymptomatic and was sent home immediately to quarantine.  All other team members have been tested and we are in the process of receiving results.  Contact tracing is underway.

As a proactive measure, all residents in health care have been placed on isolation and are under close observation.  Communal dining and communal activities have been suspended for health care.  All team members working in Health Care upgraded their PPE use to N95 masks and continue to use proper hand washing and hand sanitization techniques.

Visitation in the Health Care center will be suspended, effective September 10, 2021. Compassionate care visits will continue as deemed appropriate by leadership team members. Visitation will continue for memory care and assisted living.

Licensing agencies and the V.D.H. have been notified with no new recommendations at this time.  We will continue with testing per Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services guidelines.  The next planned Health Care team member and resident testing will be held on September 14, 2021, we will keep you updated on any further positive results and/or protocol changes.

The Chesapeake’s team urges all residents and team members as well as guests to remain vigilant regarding mask-wearing, social distancing, and proper hand hygiene.  Please check the COVID-19 Communications Hub  for up-to-date communications. Questions or concerns may be submitted via email to Barbara Jackson-Ingram at [email protected].

Sincerely,

David A. Loop
