October 13: COVID-19 Update

The Chesapeake COVID-19 Update 10/13/21

The Chesapeake’s management team has become aware of a resident in Memory Care who tested positive for COVID-19.  The resident is fully vaccinated but displayed cold-like symptoms on October 13.  All other residents and team members in Memory Care were tested on October 13 and during testing, a second resident was also found to be positive.

As a proactive measure to limit viral spread, all residents in Memory Care have been placed on isolation and are under close observation. Contact tracing is underway. Communal dining and communal activities have been suspended for Memory Care. All team members working in Memory Care continue to wear proper PPE including N95 masks and continue to use proper hand hygiene.

Visitation in the Memory Care Neighborhood is suspended, effective October 13. Compassionate care visits will continue as deemed appropriate by leadership team members.

Licensing agencies and the V.D.H. have been notified with no new recommendations at this time. We will continue with testing per Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services guidelines. The next planned Health Care team member and resident testing will be held on or around October 15, 2021, we will keep you updated on any further positive results and/or protocol changes.

The Chesapeake’s team urges all residents and team members as well as guests to remain vigilant regarding mask-wearing, social distancing, and proper hand hygiene. Please check the COVID-19 Communications Hub  for up-to-date communications. Questions or concerns may be submitted to Damian Polewczak at [email protected].

Sincerely,
