September 22: COVID-19 Update

The Chesapeake COVID-19 Update 9/21/21

The Chesapeake’s leadership team learned on September 21 that a team member from The Chesapeake’s Home Care team for Independent Living, Healthcare, and Assisted Living, has tested positive for COVID-19. The team member is asymptomatic and will be quarantining at home for the next 10 days. The residents in the Independent Living, Healthcare and Assisted Living neighborhoods that were supported in companion services have been tested and thus far have all tested negative. The impacted residents in licensed areas will isolate in their rooms with periodic checks from team members to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms for the next 10 days. Contact tracing has begun and residents will be tested again over the next 3-5 days. Team members will be tested again on September 24, 2021. Virtual visits will be permitted and are encouraged.

All team members will continue to follow guidelines from the Virginia Department of Health and CMS, including safety procedures and the use of proper protective equipment, to prevent the spread of the virus.

Visitation will continue for the following levels of care: independent living and assisted living. The Chesapeake’s team urges all residents and team members to remain vigilant regarding mask-wearing, social distancing, and proper hand hygiene as we continue to fight the spread of COVID-19.
