October 15: COVID-19 Update

The Chesapeake COVID Update 10/15/21

The Chesapeake’s management team has become aware of a resident in Memory Care as well as an Assisted Living team member who tested positive for COVID-19.  The resident and team member are both fully vaccinated. The team member is asymptomatic and was sent home immediately to isolate and recover. All other team members have been tested and we are in the process of receiving results.  Contact tracing is underway.

As a proactive measure to limit viral spread, all residents in Memory Care continue to be placed on isolation and are under close observation. Anyone who interacted with the team member in Assisted Living has been tested and all negative results have been negative. Communal dining and communal activities continue to be suspended for Memory Care but will continue for the Assisted Living neighborhood. All team members working in Memory Care and Assisted Living continue to wear proper PPE including N95 masks and continue to use proper hand hygiene.

Visitation in the Memory Care Neighborhood continues to be suspended. Compassionate care visits will continue as deemed appropriate by leadership team members.

Licensing agencies and the V.D.H. have been notified with no new recommendations. We will continue with testing per Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services guidelines. The next round of planned Health Care team member and resident testing will be held on or around October 15, 2021. We will keep you updated on any further positive results and/or protocol changes.

The Chesapeake’s team urges all residents and team members as well as guests to remain vigilant regarding mask-wearing, social distancing, and proper hand hygiene. Please check the COVID-19 Communications Hub  for up-to-date communications. Questions or concerns may be submitted to Damian Polewczak at [email protected].

Sincerely,

David A. Loop
