September 6: COVID-19 Update

The Chesapeake COVID-19 Update 9/6/21

The Chesapeake’s leadership team learned September 6th that a second team member as well as another resident in the Memory Care neighborhood have tested positive for COVID-19. The team member is quarantining at home for the next 14 days and the residents in our Memory Care neighborhood have been isolating in their rooms with periodic checks from our team members to monitor for symptoms. Contact tracing has begun and residents will again be tested in 3-5 days and the team members will be tested tomorrow, September 7, 2021.

As a result of this exposure, visitation to the Memory Care neighborhood has been extended to 14 days from today. Communal dining and activities will be limited in as much as we can at this time. Virtual visits will be permitted.

All team members will continue to follow guidelines from the Virginia Department of Health and CMS relative to safety procedures including the use of proper protective equipment.

Visitation will continue for all other levels of care: independent living, healthcare, and assisted living. The Chesapeake’s team urges all residents and team members to remain vigilant regarding mask-wearing, social distancing, and proper hand hygiene.
